Annual Plan 2023-24

1. Agriculture Department (Agriculture Officer)

Funds have been allocated and utilized for various agricultural development activities. Major projects include:

  • Crop health management and related expenses.
  • Banana cultivation development.
  • “Kitchen Garden in Every Household” project.
  • A substantial amount has been allocated for paddy cultivation development, with an overall allocation of approximately ₹40 lakh, of which expenditure has been incurred.

2. Animal Husbandry / Veterinary Surgeon

Several projects related to animal husbandry are being implemented, including:

  • Special calf-rearing and management programme.
  • Distribution of mineral mixtures and egg-laying hens.
  • Purchase of medicines for veterinary polyclinics and anti-rabies control campaigns.
  • Vaccination programmes for stray dogs.

3. Health Department (Medical Officer – PHC/CHC/Homeopathy/Ayurveda)

The following activities are included in the health sector under Allopathy, Homeopathy, and Ayurveda:

  • Purchase of medicines for PHC/CHC centres.
  • Kottayam Comprehensive Cancer Control Programme.
  • Implementation of Health and Wellness activities at sub-centres, including the purchase of inverters and chairs.
  • Financial assistance scheme for dialysis treatment for kidney patients.
  • Recurring expenses and purchase of medicines for Homeopathic and Ayurvedic dispensaries.

4. Housing and Social Welfare (Village Extension Officer – VEO)

  • LIFE Mission: Substantial funds have been allocated under the LIFE Mission for land purchase and house construction for General, SC, and ST beneficiaries.
  • Formation of senior citizens’ clubs and implementation of recreational activities.
  • Scholarships for children with disabilities, along with additional wages and remuneration for Anganwadi workers.

5. Sanitation and Waste Management

  • Installation of surveillance cameras as part of the “Garbage-Free Kerala” initiative.
  • Purchase of a vehicle for waste collection by the Haritha Karma Sena.
  • Purchase of G-Bins, composting units, and diaper disposal equipment for solid waste management.
  • Construction of public sanitary complexes and toilets.

6. Public Works and Infrastructure Development (Assistant Engineer)

  • Renovation and concreting of local roads and widening of road curves.
  • Jal Jeevan Mission: Restoration of roads damaged due to excavation for laying water pipelines in various wards.
  • Maintenance of street lights (AMC), replacement of electrical poles, and extension of street-light lines.
  • Purchase of generators, sound systems, chairs, and other equipment for community halls.
