Grama Sabha / Ward Sabha Information

🏛️ Grama Sabha

📘 The Grama Sabha consists of all persons whose names are included in the voters’ list of a village within the geographical area of a Grama Panchayat.

👥 Grama Sabha Member

A voter of a particular ward is a member of the Grama Sabha/Ward Sabha of that ward.

🧑‍💼 Convenor

The Ward Members and Councillors are the Convenors. When necessary, another member may be appointed as the Convenor.

👑 Chairperson

The President/Chairperson presides over the meeting. In their absence, another authorised person may preside over the meeting.

📅 Convening the Meeting

The Convenor is responsible for convening the meetings.

📊 Quorum

The quorum is 10% of the total number of voters. For a reconvened meeting, 50 members are sufficient.

⚡ Special Meeting

If 10% of the voters request a special meeting, it must be convened within 15 days.

🧭 Coordinator

An official acts as the Coordinator and assists the Convenor in carrying out the functions of the Grama Sabha.

❓ Questions and Suggestions

Members may submit their questions and suggestions in writing.

📝 Resolutions

Resolutions may be passed on the basis of a majority vote.
